Hitscherhof Farm Festival

We kicked off our Fall with a trip to a pumpkin festival! I couldn't have been more excited about it!
I've heard about the festival the last 2 years, but usually not until the weekend it was happening & we would have plans already. So we had to make sure to go this year & try the goodies I've heard so much about!
It ended up being a beautiful & warm day! Great for walking around & having fun!

Greg grabbed some flam-kutchen to try, which is almost like a super flaky crusted pizza! And I got pumpkin soup that everyone raves about! It was super delicious! I'd love to find a way to replicate it here at home!

Greyson was fascinated by all of the dogs at the festival. He loves dogs & would stop in his tracks to stare at them. He even tried getting close up to a few and sneaking some pets on them, but I always caught him.

We spent some time playing in a small field that was full of hay & haystacks. Greyson was loving running around, climbing the haystacks & even got a bit of hay thrown at him a time or two! Once may have even been by daddy.. He started to get super itchy & irritated so we headed out to do some walking around!

There was a small section of pumpkins for sale that we explored a bit. We found a tiny one to show Grey that he could hold & he for sure thought he could bite into it like an apple!

Then a little someone got tired & passed out after some mommy cuddles! He's been teething pretty hard & not sleeping great so we weren't surprised. So he got to just chill the rest of the time & catch some Zzz's!

There was a few little games for the older kids or adults at heart to play. And a corn maze that I really wanted to do, but since Grey was asleep, we decided to head on home.

The small bottle we enjoyed while walking around a bit! We brought home 2 big bottles of Pumpkin Secco & pumpkin butter! Yummmm! Let me just say, that pumpkin butter is so delicious I don't ever want to eat toast another way again, ever!

It was a fun, fall family day! Can't wait for October to begin in just a couple of days & all of the fun Halloween festivities that are to follow!
For today, Grey & I are going to embrace our PJs, messy hair & [hopefully stays this way] clear runny noses! Happy Monday!

It's The Little Things// Walking the Dogs

I love this little weekly link-up! It's one of my favorites! So much of our lives aren't these huge, monumental moments. It's a bunch of little things that happen & just make our hearts grow so much!

We love taking the dogs for walks.. now! Ha It hasn't always been a pleasant or easy experience to be honest. I played around with different variables like stroller vs. carrier, 1 dogs vs. 2, routes to take, etc.

Now we have it down! So on beautiful days I strap Grey to my back in the Beco carrier & take both dogs out together on a nice walk.

We almost always walk the same route every time, which makes it easier since it's familiar for all of us. We have a path that runs almost right next to our house that has some hills to it & goes right through giant fields, giving us awesome views of our village & the one right next to it.

At the end of the path, there is a little farm with some animals that are always outside. I make sure to walk that way since we all like to go see them. I make animal noises for Grey & I'm sure he thinks I'm nuts! But hoping one of these days he'll catch on & say them too!

It's not long, but it's always a pretty good time we have. Fresh air & exercise do us all some good. It will be interesting to see how dog walks change for us as the dogs & Greyson continue to get older!

Durkheimer Wurstmarkt

This past weekend we visited the Wurstmarkt in Bad Durkeim. While it's really a sausage festival, it's known mostly for being the largest wine festival!
We've lived here in Germany for 2 1/2 years now & have never been to the festival! So we made the decision that we had to check it out for real before we move back to the states in March.

It was kind of a gloomy day, so we got spritzed on most of the afternoon before the full on rain started pouring down! Nonetheless, it was a fun time!

Miles & miles of vineyards... yes!

There were rides & tons of food! I forgot to snag a picture of the tents, but there were rows upon rows of tents for people to sit & tons of wine vendors! Anywhere you went, there was likely a wine vendor within feet of you! And I don't think we saw any food that didn't look delicious!

My glass of wine! 0.5 liters of wine, which is about 2/3 of a bottle! Delicious!

The Nutella crepes were delicious obviously! We got a little bit that Greyson didn't scarf down!

We finally found a spot for our big group in one of the big tents. There was live music playing, more food & of course wine! We got in just in time too since it started raining like crazy not long after & everyone packed inside to stay dry!
This guy was wasted & dancing on the bench with the little girl! It was funny & cute!

We tried to keep Grey out of the rain for such a long time, since we didn't want him soaked while out & about. But we finally gave in as we neared the time we were planning to leave. He had a blast!

It was such a fun experience! Kind of sad we didn't get the chance to go the last 2 years. But it is something we will remember!

And it was the perfect ending to our summer! We even woke up Monday with way cooler weather. Guess the weather got the memo that it's FALL now! Bring on more sweaters, boots, crunchy leaves & pumpkin everything!
