Christmas in July Link-Up

The time has come to share the lovely gifts we all received in the Christmas in July gift exchange!
I was so honored that I was given the chance to co-host along side of  Courtney, Jamie & Liz!
We were set up to send some little gifts over to Jamie from Carseats & Cocktails and her adorable little girl Reese! Head on over there & see what she got!

This year we were matched with Chelsea from The Williams' Journey & her little darling Lily Jane!
Check out the cute goodies Greyson received!

A giant bubble wand! It was the first thing he saw in the package & was ready to run outside to play with it. I had to hide it for a bit to get him to keep opening the rest of the package.
Next up was an adorable little set of animal bath toys. He was beyond ecstatic about them! He wanted it opened right away so he could name all the animals & their sounds.
And this book lover of course was so happy when he pulled "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" out of the package. He's read it at school before so he opened it right up & started telling me the story!

And finally little bead animals - a frog & dinosaur! This kid loves animals like whoa so all the animal toys & books were so up his alley. And he knows a little so when he saw his new stegosaurus dinosaur his first question was "Where's T-rex?" because he's also obsessed with asking where everything & everyone is!

It was such a sweet little package! Greyson loves everything in it! He has played with the bath animals ever day now & he won't go to bed without reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Thanks so much to Chelsea & Lilly Jane for your thoughtful gifts!

If you participated in the exchange please link up your Christmas in July boxes below! And, feel free to use #xmasinjulygiftexchange to share on instagram too.

Summer Bucket List// Sidewalk Chalk

10:00 AM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

One of the items on our Summer Bucket List was to create some sidewalk chalk! Greyson learned from school how fun chalk outside is & at the mention of "chalk," he was outside ready to make some art!
We used this as an after dinner, calm Greyson down right before bed, activity. He of course got stuff all on his clothes & ran outside in his undies, but he was cooperating otherwise so we went with it!

Mommy & daddy joined in a little with some art of our own. We played "what color is this?" with the chalk & Greyson frequently double-fisted multiple colors while running around like a madman. And with sidewalk chalk nothing is off limits - hence, our beautifully decorated grill. Good thing it just washes right off!
We love being outside & channeling Greyson's energy is always a plus for us. Art is such a great developmental activity for toddlers. It's fun to see the evolution of the things that Greyson creates on his own. We will definitely be doing a ton of fun new things once the Fall rolls around!

Stay tuned for more fun from our summer bucket list!
What have you done so far this summer?!

It's The Little Things// Making Cupcakes

5:51 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

I am an avid baker. I love making little treats & pretending like I actually know what I'm doing! And for as long as I can remember, I've wanted Greyson to want to help me and learn how to bake. I've tried several times & he usually just doesn't want to pay attention long enough or stop what is doing to join me.

Well finally that has changed! I decided to make some cupcakes for our anniversary & Greyson was beyond thrilled to help me! He helped to stir up the mix, put the cupcake liners in the pan & even scooped the batter into all of the liners except the one I did to show him how to do it.

He was such a good listener & little helper this day! I was so surprised & amazed at how well he followed my directions & his awesome batter scooping skills!

I can't wait to be able to bake some more soon! It was such a fun little time & definitely want to make some healthier things that maybe have more ingredients to them to measure & add.

Happy Hump Day! Hope you all have a special little moment with someone you love a ton today!

Summer Busket List// Colorado Rockies Game

12:31 AM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

This past weekend, the Colorado Rockies were having their military appreciation day & we were able to get some really good tickets to the game against the Atlanta Braves here in Denver! It was our first Rockies game and Greg & Greyson's first MLB game ever! Man was it a fun experience!
We grabbed lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings with some friends before heading up to Denver so Grey would sleep on the way, parked & rode the shuttle to the stadium!
Our seats were a pretty good view, just 14 rows up from the field along the 1st base line. We had some open seats around us so that was nice & not crazy crowded. Plus, Greyson decided he liked the numbers on all of the seats & for a bit, just walked back & forth counting the seats' numbers.
Of course baseballs games aren't complete without some treats! It was way hot - like 90+ degrees in our sunny seats - so we made sure to keep our water bottle filled & everyone hydrated. And to beat the heat nothing works better than raspberry ice Dippin' Dots! They were so refreshing & Grey of course was beyond excited when we got them!
Grey was pretty cooperative, with only a few instances of being way too hot & cranky. He started talking to everyone around us at the end, telling them nonsensical 2 year old stories! And even tried showing off for a little attention too!
Since it was over an hour from home, we decided to head out during the 7th inning stretch to beat traffic & make it home at a reasonable hour to be able to feed Grey & keep his bedtime schedule somewhat intact.
All in all it was a hot, sunny, fun day for baseball!
We all had a good time & definitely plan to do it again sometime!

Have you been to a professional sports game with kids before? How was it?!

Our 4th Wedding Anniversary

5:16 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

I cannot believe it has been four years since Greg & I got married!
We met in high school at the ripe old ages of 16 & 18 and have been together ever since! We've been through the trials of college, a deployment, living by the beach & a short notice move to live overseas! Not to mention getting both of our pups & having Greyson!
It has been a wild ride that has taken us many places & given us so many special experiences!

I couldn't think of anyone better to do life with than this guy!
He is the rock in our family & the reason we have so much to be grateful for! Here's to a 100 more years together!

4th of July

10:39 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

This year for the 4th of July we found ourselves in a new place with no idea where the fun stuff was!
We recently became friends with our neighbor & she invited us to come over to grill, hang & let the kids play. Greyson is obsessed with her daughter & constantly wants to go over & play with her so he was beyond excited to spend the better part of the day at her house! So we got dressed in our festive red, white & blue and headed down the street!
Our neighbor grilled up a bunch of meat, made a broccoli salad & I brought some mini fruit pizzas and we all hung out! Greg hopped on their trampoline with the kids for quite some time & was probably having more fun than them! And naturally the littlest were equally thrilled about the fruit pizzas! Greyson only really wanted the fruit, of course!
After a long afternoon of trampoline jumping, blueberry eating & chalk drawing, we stopped back home to get Greyson a quick bath before fireworks! He was playing & happy all day - until after the bath! He laid with me on the couch for a little bit, dozed off & when I got up to get dressed for fireworks, he didn't move from the couch.
That isn't Greyson at all! We quickly noticed he was burning up & sure enough, he had a 102 degree temp out of nowhere. So we called our neighbor to cancel our fireworks plans & opted to keep him home & cuddle him instead. We were pretty bummed about missing fireworks this year, but when you're a parent, your kids' health comes first always!

We spent our Sunday very low key, at home, trying to keep Greyson comfortable with his constantly spiking fever. He was crazy upset when he found out he couldn't go play with his friend, but we made it up to him with messy popsicles outside!
It wasn't entirely the 4th of July I had in mind when evening struck, but hey! It was a fun afternoon with family & good friends! Can't ask for much more! There's always next year for fireworks!
