It's the Little Things // Greyon's 1st Baseball Game

Last Friday we went to our first baseball game in Colorado & Greyon's first game ever!
The Sky Sox are the new AAA team for the Milwakee Brewers & their home is right here in Colorado Springs. My husband's work set up a night for their unit at the game this past Friday so we bundled up and headed out for the game!
It was unexpectedly cold, so luckily we grabbed a blanket on our way out the door just in case! It was pretty windy in the stadium so the extra layers were definitely useful. We had our seats in the picnic area at an area of tables with some buffet food that had all you can eat stadium food included! Mr. Greyson of course decided he didn't want a hotdog so he had chips & a cookie! So nutritious, but once in almost meant we decided it was okay for a change!
We snuggled up under the blaket as much as possible! And the little monster kept stealing my pink lemonade! We finally managed to get him to keep the wind breaker jacket on for extra warmth andhe was most interested in walking up & down the stadium steps and saying hi to randoms that watching the game!
Because of the cold and how late the Friday night game was, we decided to head out early. Greyson was just getting cranky and we didn't want him out in the cold too long since he hadn't been feeling 100%! I was kind of bummed since they have fireworks on Friday nights, but it was for the best to get Grey home & in bed!
It was a fun night, even with the cold! I think we are going to try going again when the nights are warmer and Greyson is able to handle being up a little later. With his growing interest in balls and learning to throw them, I'm sure he'll be into watching the game itself in no time!

Greyson's First Day of School

I say school, but it was really day care. But doesn't school just sound so much better?

With my grad school starting soon and the job hunt starting, we needed Greyson to start going to day care. It took a couple of weeks for him to get a spot, but it really wasn't a terrible wait. And his spot is at the base child care that we were hoping for, which is closest to our house and most on the way to Gregs work and my school.
He was up bright and early yesterday morning, ready to go although he had no idea what we meant when we kept saying he was going to school. He knew he got to have his backpack & go back to the room with lots of toys. He did try to bring his new play microwave that he is oddly obsessed with along, but it had to stay in the car. Nice try!
His drop off went better than expected on his part. He got in the room & went straight for the toys. We got his stuff all stored in his cubby & helped him wash his hands. He barely had a desire to say goodbye to us, probably because he didn't understand we would be leaving.

I, on the other hand, managed to keep it together until we got outside & lost it. I knew I'd be sad, but man did it hit me hard. I know why he is going there & all the good that will come from it, but I was crazy sad to leave him there, knowing I wouldn't see him all day. But I kept my focus, went to the gym alone which has only happened like once since he was born, and got some errands done.

I was so excited when it was time to go pick him up & honestly was surprised I managed to wait until 4 pm to get him! He was happy to see me when I walked in! His teachers said he did really well for his first day, especially for a kid who has never been in child care before. We had a special ice cream treat after dinner since he did so well for his first day at school!
His second day was a little rough when it was time to drop him off, but he did even better today & was so excited when I got there. He spotted me across the outside play area & screamed "mommy!" and the first thing he asked about were his sunglasses! It was fun to watch him play for a few minutes outside with a couple of the kids. And a long day of school calls for a yummy yogurt snack with a nice messy face!
I can't wait to see all the changes and growing he does from getting to interact with so many kids his age all day.

Sweet & Simple Sunday

We set out to have a quiet relaxing weekend. It was somewhat successful!
Greyson & I spent our last day as a stay at home duo cuddling with some pjs and Modern Family per his request. We played outside in the chilly morning and unpacked the rest of our stuff that got delivered, including my beloved Keurig!
Saturday we set out to do some running around & ended up hanging out at a car dealership for awhile looking into a car to trade ours being shipped in for & my husband ended up getting a VW Golf GTI. Of course there was coffee & upside down sunglasses shenanigans the whole time.
We capped off our night with some pizza at home. Nothing beats the simple night like that! Of course there might have been margaritas too...
I ended up putting some of our patio furniture together, what wasn't broken by the movers along with half of our other things. We have some DIY things in mind for the new future & picked out the stain we plan to use!
Of course Greyson doesn't understand we sleep in on the weekends, so we got a bright & early 6 am wake-up from the messy haired monster! We decided to head to ToysRUs to use Greys birthday gift cards for some goodies & got a pretty good family selfie out of it! Greyson is his fathers son & was obsessed with the cars at the store, demanding to play with them & loved sitting in them. Can't wait until he is old enough to be able to drive one.

It was such a good weekend with my little family. Tomorrow starts Greyson going to daycare and I'm sure I'm going to be a mess! Lots of changes heading our way that thing will be crazy and yet I can't wait to see how it turns out!

We Bought A House!

2:19 PM Amanda Greathouse 4 Comments

We are so happy to share our new house & the adventures everything that comes along with home ownership!
We came to Colorado knowing we wanted to buy a house & started looking before we even got here. We found our house fairly quickly, but we still ended up staying in temporary lodgings for 3 weeks even with our very quick appraisal & closing!
Our house is a brand new build in a developing neighborhood. We have so much more space with a big open floor plan, 2 car garage, 4 bedrooms & 2.5 baths! We even have a very large, fenced in yard for the dogs & Greyson to run and play! We don't have grass yet, that's how new our house is! But it should be laid in just a few days!
I love how open our downstairs is! Perfect for entertaining, which I'm so excited to do!
I am already imagining all the fun we will have this summer in the yard, with BBQs and yard games. And of course all the holiday decorating in the front when the fall hits! Ah the excitement!
We have our laundry room upstairs, which is so much more convenient than it being in the basement! Now maybe I won't forget stuff in the washer for days!
I love the window in Greyson's room! It's so big & lets in so much natural light! He even has his own walk-in closet. For now, we plan to have a guest room & an office upstairs as well, since we are planning on tons of visitors and need a workspace since Greg & I will both be taking classes soon! And of course Greyson and the guest bathroom is right upstairs ready for some cute decor!
Our room is so big and cozy, not to mention the view out our window! I don't think waking up to the sight of the mountains will ever get old! We have a big walk-In closet and master bath with double sinks and a separate shower/toilet room.
We are so happy with our house! We got our keys at closing and moved in that night, only we didn't have any of our furniture at all yet. We were in the house with it virtually empty for 5 nights and we learned to use our imagination for lots of things.
First night in your new house calls for a pizza party and an improvised banana muffin breakfast on the living room floor! We browsed at paint colors, cleaning stuff and blinds, since our windows are all bare.
Greyson lived watching the guys move all of our stuff in and chatted with them all morning. We have so much stuff to unpack that I can't imagine the house being ready for awhile. 80% of our house is still boxes and random stuff throw places to be sorted.
It's a slow process but one we're excited about! We have tons of ideas and can't wait to make our dreams into reality. I can't stay off of Pinterest with all the ideas I keep adding to the lists! Stay tuned! Can't wait to show the progress as the house comes along!
