Our Visit To The States
So after a long time of quiet here on the blog, we are back home from our almost 2 week trip back to the states. I have a bunch of pictures to share, but honestly not nearly as many as I imagined I'd have.
We were on the go everyday & I rarely took the time to whip out my camera for some pictures. Too busy living in the moments I suppose. Not to mention, we can't use our phones as phones in the states so we didn't carry them with us. Hence, no phone photos either, other than what I've managed to swipe from our family!
Greyson loved running laps around my parents' dining room table!
It hasn't been too terribly cold in Germany so we'd gotten away with just layering a hoodie & light jacket for Grey but we knew going to Ohio would be much colder. The selections were much better than on base here so we finally got Greyson his winter coat! It is huge compared to him but hopefully that means it will last all winter!
Mmm crunchy fall leaves! He was pretty fascinated with them just like mommy!
Daddy taught Greyson how to roll/throw the ball back & forth with aim & intention. He was having a blast!
And what trip isn't complete with some new cups!? My favorite by far is this crazy straw mason jar cup! How awesome! The dollar store definitely got it right with this green gem!
And 2 playdates at the indoor playground at McDonald's, since it was way too cold to go outside. We got to meet up for one with a friend of ours from high school & meet her little man! It made me realize very quickly how fast Grey has grown up! He was so small & adorable!
One thing about being in Germany is that we rarely get much time to do things just Greg & I. So we got some kid-free fun while Grey stayed with our families.
First, date night! Greyson stayed with my mom overnight while we went to see a movie & grabbed some food & drinks during the Thursday night football game. We saw Interstellar & while it was a crazy almost 3 hours long, we both agreed it was worth it! Captivating & very original!
Then Saturday, Greyson went to Greg's parents' house while we headed up to where I went to college. We met up with some of my best friends & my sister, who took the picture instead of getting in it, at a winery. The food &, most importantly, the wine were delicious! I miss these girls so much & seriously can't wait to be back stateside forever!
And after spending the night with my sister, Greg & I headed to our first NFL game - Browns vs. Texans!
We've never been to an NFL game before this & it was so much fun! Greg is a huge Browns fan & we sat in the Dawgpound, so he was in heaven! We were bundled up to the max! They may have lost & it was literally below freezing, but that didn't spoil our fun!
And the morning we were leaving, we woke up to tons of snow all over the place! It was crazy but beautiful! We didn't have any snow in Germany last year so it had been almost 2 years since we had seen snow. Even though we needed to pack, we took a short break to bundle up & go play in the snow for a bit!
Clearly we need to invest in some snow boots for little Grey. He hates the mittens & having to wear them didn't help make him like the snow any more! Can't wait until we get some snow over here so we can take him out more & try again!
Ah man was it a crazy, busy trip! We had so much running around to do to visit with everyone that we hardly had a moment to just chill. It's always hard to leave, but we will be back in just a few months, so that helps make it a little easier.
We have slowly unpacked almost everything & are just battling some wicked jet lag. I have some fun traveling with a toddler tips coming soon along with how to kick jet lag to the curb!
Happy almost Friday!
What a fun packed visit! First always yay for adult time. Grandparents are the best! That coat looks perfect on Grayson and good thing he had it to play in all that fun snow! Hope you had a safe trip back!
