Our Day in Pictures

Well fall has basically come & gone already here in Germany! The leaves changed for a hot second & have been falling to the ground all week. We are finally back on a normal schedule since returning from our visit in the states. Greyson is doing well with naps but still having a little trouble sleeping long stretches at night.

I was thinking. We take pictures of all the big moments - the firsts, fancy times and just things we think we have to document. Well what about the everyday stuff? Greyson & I do almost the same thing every day but I love it & wouldn't change it for the world. So why not remember the little things to?! The silly faces he makes as his personality grows daily. The random things he gets his little hands on that he probably shouldn't. The everyday love between us that isn't posed or choreographed.

Well this is it. This is us.

A little Pinterest & coffee while Greyson hangs out & I wake up

Breakfast with my lil guy - this particular morning was mango

Play time! His weapon of choice - the remote of course!

He climbs up there all by himself. Staring down the floor trying how to get back down

"Hey mom! I need to eat the camera now!"

Climbing on mommy. I make a pretty sweet baby mountain!

Story time! He spends most of the time trying to rip out the pages or eat the book, but it works!

Post-nap #1. "Mom! No cameras!!"

At least a solid 5 minutes of peek-a-boo! One of his favorite things to do!

Lunch. This day he wanted some of my garlic bread. I'm nice so I share!

He loves the music and lights on the walking toy

Puppy kisses!

Cup ninja swiped my water! Hasn't quite mastered the straw yet!

RIP F1 key! You will surely be missed..

Post-Nap #2. Being playful in his crib!

My adorable little guy. He loves posing for some pictures

"I look ridiculous! Get this thing off of my head!" Yeah.. it lasted about 10 seconds. As did our walk since it was colder than I expected

Daddy's home! He gets so excited now when daddy comes home to play!

He just needed a little coffee..

Helping daddy make dinner. Maybe I should get him a little apron? Ha

Telling daddy about his day! He is so chatty during dinner. Only a matter of time before he's actually saying words!

Nothing monumental happened this day. But I am so happy to have these pictures & to be able to have them to share. Greyson is growing up faster than I could've imagined & I just hope I can remember him being this small for as long as I can!

8 Months

I know its a bit late... but Greyson is 8 months old now!

New Foods: Blueberries, Waffles, Yogurt, Pumpkin, Pasta, Garlic Bread
Favorite Activities: pulling himself to stand & cruising along furniture, trying to grab anything mommy or daddy have, chasing the dogs, watching football

We visited a few pumpkin patches & Greyson got his own baby pumpkin

New Browns gear for my boys!

Ouchie from a minor mishap involving Grey's face & the floor!

Our big man trying to brush his imaginary teeth

Mesmerized by The Grinch - yes, we were watching The Grinch in October. Sue me!

Just taking a stroll with the toy!

Greyson is now more mobile than I could've imagined he would be by this point in time! He is finally trying to move on his knees a bit, but usually chooses the low-crawl mode for his everyday mischievous needs. If there is anything within his arms reach that he isn't supposed to play with, those little hands will be on it like white on rice! Geez this kid is quick!

We've started doing a mix of pureed baby food & finger foods since his pincer grasp is pretty awesome! He loves trying new foods & eating the things that mommy & daddy have. Just today I was forced to share my yogurt with him! I thought I had a little more time before we had a food ninja on ours hands! The dogs like when he gets finger foods though since he will hold his hands down by his sides & sneak them bits of stuff.

Greyson is obsessed with doors & his new discovery has been the doors to the TV stand! He could sit & play with them alllll day & trust me, he has!

Daddy making him feel better after shutting his fingers in the TV stand doors.. which he was back playing with a few minutes later. Babies!

His favorite "toy" - the remote!

He frantically crawled over to his book, flipped it open & put his face on the book & started whispering to it! He is so silly its adorable!

It's been an interesting week since we got back from our trip to the states! All 3 of us had a dance with a stomach bug that grounded us for a couple of days. We [& by we I mean mostly me] have battled with a jet lagged baby who wants to play from 12-3 AM. I have managed to clean out the clothes Greyson no longer fits & make piles on the floor of all of the bigger sized new clothes he just acquired. Restocked our entire kitchen that we left bare just before we left. And have done lots of chasing & cuddling. To end this crazy week, I get to cuddle with my amazing hubby & enjoy a BIG glass of wine while the baby [hopefully] sleeps! Look forward to a post about our trip & travels!

7 Months!

Greyson is officially 7 months old now! He is growing faster than I could have ever imagined!

Stats
Weight: 14 lb 13 oz
Clothes: 6-9 Months
Foods He Likes: Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Carrots, Peas, Green Beans, Garden Veggies, Bananas, Apples, Peaches, Pancakes
Foods He Didn't Like: Turkey w/ Turkey Gravy & Chicken w/Chicken Gravy [both pureed]
Favorite Activities: Low crawling, climbing on mommy & daddy, chatting at meal times, playing with the dogs & their dog tags, opening & closing doors

Greyson is super active these days! When he is awake, he does not stop moving! He wants to get into everything within his reach! We are finding new things daily that we need to move up away from the floor & hide so little baby hands can't get ahold of!

Ahh! :) Just chatting up mommy! - He looks mad... He was not! ha

Ready to climb up on the cushion! Check out that knee action!

Playing with mommy's soft scarf - Love the pop of blue I did in this B&W photo

We went through a little bit of a rough patch with the sleep situation for a few days. Greyson did not want to take naps longer than 30 minutes & would only nap twice a day. And on top of that, he decided he wanted to wake up every 1-2 hours throughout the night, passing out within maybe 10 minutes. This mama was exhausted come morning!

But we made some progress when we got him to nap for a 2 1/2 hour stretch on Sunday & another almost hour before dinner [when the dogs woke him up] and he did great sleeping at night! Greyson is a great baby in general, but everyone is so much happier when he gets enough sleep!

Contemplating what to get into next!

Peak-a-boo, I see you! Hanging with daddy!

Dexter was being a good boy & wanted his pic taken! Such a handsome boy!

Well as lil man grabs a nap, I am off to enjoy some coffee, Army Wives & plan some fun things to do with Greyson today! I am thinking its about time for some baby art! Stay tuned!

Chronic Cold Coffee Syndrome

Ugh. Mom problems!

The lack of sleep that comes along with a new baby has gotten much better & is almost gone. Though Greyson does still like to wake up a few times during the night for a little snack in bed with mom!

Problem is - Greyson is wayy active, constantly on the go & wanting to explore everything he can get his little hands on! Gone are the days when I could let him chill while I get things done, such as dishes or his laundry.

Now my day consists of:

Playing in bed in the morning, hiding in the comforter

Watching the boys catch up on football [on the weekends of course]

Grey chowing down some oatmeal as I try to eat my own breakfast

Greyson can now pull himself up on the side of his pack n play onto his knees - he is planning his escape route no doubt

Watching Greyson walk around the living room in his walker, making silly faces

Chasing after him since he thinks he is a dog & must play with their toys & try to eat their food

Dress him up as Batman & make him "fly"

Cuddle with my boys

And by the end of it all, there sits my coffee.. Cold & untouched by my lips.

As we can see, I either need to develop something awesome that keeps my coffee hot for hours or I need to learn to multitask & play with the lil dude while I enjoy my hot caffeine! Too bad there isn't a coffee Camelback!

Greyson meets Auntie Terra

My little sister came to visit us in Germany during her short break between semesters! She literally spent every free day traveling or here in Germany! I was so excited for her to visit so we could show her some fun things here & of course - meet Greyson!

Terra & Greyson ready for dinner outside

He was just so excited! :)

Love my little sister!

We hung out at our house for a few days so she could adjust to the time difference. Jet lag can be a real pain in the you-know-what!

Terra tagged along on Greyson's 6 month appointment! She helped me stay calm during his shots since I can get a little emotional watching them happen! And then it was off to Neunkirchen Zoo!!

Terra & Greyson looking at the seals swimming around

Greyson sitting on the bouncy elephant play-thing! He was so proud of himself

Greyson got to pet some ponies at the zoo!

Greyson is obsessed with necklaces! Trying to get a picture of them & this is what he wanted to do instead!

Finally one of him looking - except he was mad since she took her necklace off! ha

Next adventure: Rhinestein Castle! We've been to a few castles before this & it was honestly my favorite so far! Many castles are basically ruins & the ones that aren't have most of the castle blocked off. Rhinestein was so open & they had rooms set up like they would have been around the time royals lived in the castle. Plus it is right on the Rhine River & had an amazing view!

Terra, Greyson & I in front of the Rhine River

Terra & Greyson!

Had to get a picture throwing it up! ;)

Terra & her Rhinestein wine!

German Eiskaffe - coffee with ice cream in it! Greyson wanted it sooo bad!

Last but not least: We ventured to Luxembourg to see the American Military Cemetery. Such a beautiful memorial honoring those who gave their lives during WWII, including those who are still missing! Over 5,000 headstones can be found, including that of General George S. Patton, & 2 monuments with over 320 names of those missing. It was a humbling experience.

Entrance way to the memorial

White Stone Chapel at the center of the cemetery

General Patton's headstone overlooking those of the lost troops

It was such an amazing trip & I am so grateful that my sister was able to come & let me share some of our life here with her! Greyson loved meeting his Auntie Terra & spending lots of time with her! Cannot wait until we are able to make a trip back to the states to meet everyone else in his big, crazy family! <3
